Missing CDR/DVDRW Fix for XP

CD/DVD drive not showing up in Windows XP?

Click Start
Click Run
Type regedit
Click OK
Expand My Computer
Expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Expand SYSTEM
Expand CurrentControlSet
Expand Control
Expand Class
Under Class click {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
In the right pane click UpperFilters
Click Edit
Click Delete
Click Yes to confirm the deletion of the UpperFilters registry entry.
In the right pane click LowerFilters
Click Yes to confirm the deletion of the LowerFilters registry entry.
Click Edit
Click Delete
Exit the registry editor.
Restart the PC.

You may need to re-install any CD/DVD playing/recording software.

Help! My “All Programs” Link Has Gone

  1. Click Start and Run or, if your run button isn’t there, hold down the Windows key on your keyboard and press R. Or, start Task Manager and go to File and New Task
  2. Type regedit and click OK
  3. Go to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\
    CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
  4. Delete the value “NoStartMenuMorePrograms
  5. Restart your PC
