Site Update – On Hiatus

Apologies for disruption of service but What’s On is on hiatus while I’m ill. Hoping to be back in action in a few weeks.

Site Update

I’m up and running after a fashion, however, until things settle down I’ll only be adding EU realm events.

Posters depicturing the “launching” of a shu’halo towards a net consisting of several odd-looking sindoreis are sticked about in most of the Horde’s cities. It seems it’s not a joke.

A lenghtful note follows:

Fellow people of the Horde, you are all invited for the 1st annual Taurenian Canon Extravaganza! that will be held at the Darkmoon Faire in the vicinity of Shattrah City this August 5th, thirty minutes after the sixth bell!
Verily, you will be entertained by our two Star Guests, Durkas Winterhoof and Utharren Theron, as they will both be launched in the air for the Horde’s communities! You will also be invited to donate* before our two brave souls face the limits of the skies; donations that will be given to people in need throughout the Horde lands.

But that’s not all!

We would also be very happy to see you stay awhile after the show! Drinks and snacks will be offered!

The AAMS: For a better life; and a better Lifestyle!

It is easy to understand why so many of my contemporaries prefer to let this history die. Let it sink into oblivion silently, slipping beneath the waters of time until the surface of the lake is once again unruffled, and no one knows of the shame lurking in the depths. I, too, feel that shame, though I was not alive when this occurred. I see it in Drek’Thar’s face as he recounts his part of the tale in a shaking voice. I saw the weight of it on Orgrim Doomhammer. Grom Hellscream, friend and traitor and friend again, was ravaged by it.
But to pretend it did not exist is to forget how dreadful the impact was. To make ourselves into victims, rather than claiming our participation in our own destruction. We chose to this path, we orcs. We chose it right up until it was too late to turn back. And having made that choice once, we can, with the knowledge that we have of the end of that dark and shameful road, choose not to take it.
So I wish to hear the testimony of those who placed one foot in front of the other on a road that spelled near obliteration of our kind. I want to understand why they took each step, what had to happen for it to seem logical and good and right.
I want to know this so when I see it unfolding again, I will recognize it.
Humans have two sayings that are wise beyond imagining. The first is,
‘Those who do not learn from history are condemned to repeat it.’
And the second is…
‘Know your enemy.’” – Warchief Thrall, Rise of the Horde.

So it begins. So I thought to myself. The greatest and most difficult task bestowed upon me and in extension upon my clan and those who would seek to aid us. I feel both greatly honored, but also troubled. The greater the honor, the greater the fall should I fail my task. Not long will it be now until my clan is ready for the perils of Draenor.

I took a dry stick from the ground, snapped it over with my hands and threw it into the fire right in front of me. Narsh, my wolf – my trusted friend and companion, growled silently as the wood caught fire. “So the wood return to the earth through fire and with water and wind it shall grant new life yet again. The circle of the elements if you will. Ever-“

“-thing is connected, yes.” I broke the elderly orc, on the other side of the campfire, off. He looked fragile, nearly as if should a wind blow just a little bit too strong he would fall apart. I knew, however that it was far from the case. He smiled even though I had interrupted him.

“I’ve taught you everything I could, young chieftain. Without you being a shaman naturally.” He paused, now looking upon me with his imposing eyes.”You are ready and so will your clan be. The spirits are restless. They urge you to travel. Heed their call.”

“We shall leave at the sixteenth day in the eighth moon of the year, Far Seer Hroshgar.” I nodded simply in his direction. My previous uncertainty began to gain in me again. I tried and failed not to face the far seer. No matter, he would know anyway.

“You doubt yourself?” He raised an eyebrow at me. I snorted, taking control of my own feelings as he had taught me so many years ago.

“I am the weapon of my Warchief’s command. His desire is mine. To doubt myself would be to doubt him. No. I will do this task and so will the rest of my clan. We will do it or die trying. Victory or death that is the most fundamental of truths.”

“Better.”

So I thought to myself. So it begins.

Venue: Astranaar, Ashenvale

A return to the regular celebrations of the most sacred night of the lunar cycle.

We at the Mystral Blades have decided that this, the holiest night of the Kaldorei lunar calendar, has been left far too low key the last year, amidst the Kaldorei power vacuum at local level. With regional order once again established, we wish once more to revive in full, the celebrations of the night of the moonrise.

We welcome people of all races, to come together on these sacred nights, meet us in Astranaar, and pilgrimage to a place of suitable view of the night sky, to join in an eve of prayer, poetry, music and other arts, as the the Goddess bathes us in the full majesty of her light. The service shall be led by the ever inspirational Priestess Laoise Silvershine, with hopeful contributions from other local priestesses, and any others who wish to contribute their arts.

The next full moon takes place on the sixth night of the next cycle. We ask that everyone arrives in Astranaar for the twenty first hour promptly as possible. This night is spent illuminated in the strongest, most beautiful rays of Her ever illuminating light, and as such, while formal dress is not required, it does no harm, and we ask that at least some effort is made for people to look their best, in a show of respect to the Goddess. This does not mean any specific dress code however any interpretation of this term is welcome so long as the effort is there and true.

A Legitimate Business Club event is soon taking place in Old Town! A true, never before seen Stormwindian masquerade where no one is safe from seeing themselves parodied. With burlesque displays from more or less gifted actors, this night is sure to be interesting.

August the 1st, Old Town will become even more chaotic than it already is. The so-called Stormwind Night will take place and everyone must dress up as whatever Stormwindian they might please. Gnomish versions of Cerelia, elves taking up the armour of Amarae and overweight Madelines shall be commonplace on this night. But simply dressing up isn’t enough, oh no. Participants in this event should do their utmost to also enact their part.

For those attending to this display of costumes and acting skills, there will be drinks sold at the Pig and Whistle tavern, drunken races around Old Town, several drinking contests and the like. Brawlers are kindly asked not to fight inside the tavern.
Merchants, performers and whatever characters may appear can rent a stand at the Stormwind Nights if, of course, they pay a small fee to the Club.
