What's On in WoW

Apologies for disruption of service but What’s On is on hiatus while I’m ill. Hoping to be back in action in a few weeks.

I’m up and running after a fashion, however, until things settle down I’ll only be adding EU realm events.

Apologies for the lapse in service. My PC went down this week and I’ve only just got it back up. I’ve lost my backup drive and all my site stuff with it, including the site redesign. More importantly I’ve lost my work documents too, 40Gbs in total, so there’s a lot of work to be done before I can carry on with this.

If anyone’d like to volunteer to take over while I’m away I’d be glad of the help.

Other than that.. I’m sorry again and hope we’ll be back to normal soon.

We’re in the process of redesigning the site layout to something with a little less orange and better spacing. We’re still looking for someone to design a header though! Entries on a postcard!

While we’re redesigning, updates are going to be a little slower. However, anyone who submits their event via e-mail or the form on the website will definitely have it posted here.

Good news everyone! The upgrade went smoothly. It  was the fastest Wordpress upgrade I’ve ever done. There shouldn’t be any more downtime. Thanks for your patience! Now we don’t need to shoot the gnomes.

While we’re here, I’d like to draw your attention to a very special event. Adnaw from Argent Dawn EU is holding a cross community event open to everyone (including those from non-english speaking realms) as part of a project to encourage RP and discourage OOC. Read more about this project here and about the event itself in the post stickied on the front page or on the Blizzard forums here. I for one will hopefully be attending in one form or another and I hope to see many of you there too. A project like this deserves all our support and I’d like to offer good luck to Adnaw & co, hoping everything runs smoothly. Arranging an event of this size is no mean feat.

Hi all. Just to let you know that we’ll probably be going down for maintenance next week.

The Wordpress upgrade is set for release on June 10th. I doubt we’ll be down for more than a few hours. If anything goes drastically wrong, we’ll blame the widget gnomes and I’ll set Elle on them.

While I’m posting OOC, I’d like to say a special thank you to everyone who’s shown support, in particular,  Falkeshall, Jeduul, Fentanyl and of course my sweetheart. And let’s not forget the wonderful crew of the Flaming Flagon!

What’s on in WoW has been up and running for a month now. With 114 event & guild information articles posted, the site has grown far faster and been much more work than I expected. Covering both EU and US events was a little..ambitious, though I don’t regret a bit. I’m hoping to recruit some help over the next few weeks, browsing 37 forums and an increasing number of guild websites each week is no mean feat. Despite this, I’m hoping to expand a little more on the RP features here. My online time is a little free-er this month and will be for two months during the summer. During that time I’d like to provide a little coverage for events on the EU servers, screenshots perhaps. If you’d like to cover your own event for an article to be featured here, please feel free to contact me. The more the merrier! I’m also hoping to provide a little monthly feature on places to RP.

I think that’s all I needed to say, but since you read this far, here’s some interesting facts:

• The server with the most RP events so far is: Argent Dawn EU with 23, followed by Moonglade with 12.
• The US server with the most RP events is Wyrmrest Accord.
• The most popular tag is Drinking. That’s right. 19 events featuring moderate (and more) amounts of alcohol.

Edit edit: I’m also looking at a redesign of the blog. I’m not at all happy with the layout, but my design skills are 0/400. I can code a little..but give me photoshop and I’ll give you back a mess. If anyone here has any experience designing wordpress layouts or just a blog PSD and would like to volunteer some help, drop me a line.
