It is easy to understand why so many of my contemporaries prefer to let this history die. Let it sink into oblivion silently, slipping beneath the waters of time until the surface of the lake is once again unruffled, and no one knows of the shame lurking in the depths. I, too, feel that shame, though I was not alive when this occurred. I see it in Drek’Thar’s face as he recounts his part of the tale in a shaking voice. I saw the weight of it on Orgrim Doomhammer. Grom Hellscream, friend and traitor and friend again, was ravaged by it.
But to pretend it did not exist is to forget how dreadful the impact was. To make ourselves into victims, rather than claiming our participation in our own destruction. We chose to this path, we orcs. We chose it right up until it was too late to turn back. And having made that choice once, we can, with the knowledge that we have of the end of that dark and shameful road, choose not to take it.
So I wish to hear the testimony of those who placed one foot in front of the other on a road that spelled near obliteration of our kind. I want to understand why they took each step, what had to happen for it to seem logical and good and right.
I want to know this so when I see it unfolding again, I will recognize it.
Humans have two sayings that are wise beyond imagining. The first is,
‘Those who do not learn from history are condemned to repeat it.’
And the second is…
‘Know your enemy.’” – Warchief Thrall, Rise of the Horde.
So it begins. So I thought to myself. The greatest and most difficult task bestowed upon me and in extension upon my clan and those who would seek to aid us. I feel both greatly honored, but also troubled. The greater the honor, the greater the fall should I fail my task. Not long will it be now until my clan is ready for the perils of Draenor.
I took a dry stick from the ground, snapped it over with my hands and threw it into the fire right in front of me. Narsh, my wolf – my trusted friend and companion, growled silently as the wood caught fire. “So the wood return to the earth through fire and with water and wind it shall grant new life yet again. The circle of the elements if you will. Ever-“
“-thing is connected, yes.” I broke the elderly orc, on the other side of the campfire, off. He looked fragile, nearly as if should a wind blow just a little bit too strong he would fall apart. I knew, however that it was far from the case. He smiled even though I had interrupted him.
“I’ve taught you everything I could, young chieftain. Without you being a shaman naturally.” He paused, now looking upon me with his imposing eyes.”You are ready and so will your clan be. The spirits are restless. They urge you to travel. Heed their call.”
“We shall leave at the sixteenth day in the eighth moon of the year, Far Seer Hroshgar.” I nodded simply in his direction. My previous uncertainty began to gain in me again. I tried and failed not to face the far seer. No matter, he would know anyway.
“You doubt yourself?” He raised an eyebrow at me. I snorted, taking control of my own feelings as he had taught me so many years ago.
“I am the weapon of my Warchief’s command. His desire is mine. To doubt myself would be to doubt him. No. I will do this task and so will the rest of my clan. We will do it or die trying. Victory or death that is the most fundamental of truths.”
“Better.”
So I thought to myself. So it begins.
More Details: A pilgrimage in the name of blood!
So what is this?
This is the great traveling event of the Bloodpaw Clan. So what exactly do we mean by traveling event? We mean naturally that we go as a whole roleplaying guild from one place to another. The way will be long and increasingly dangerous as the clan approaches their final goal – Nagrand. We will travel one zone per week to roleplay here and there. The exact plan of travel you can see below.
Is it open to everyone?
In short: Yes. A longer answer would be that so long you roleplay we will welcome you around as always during the Bloodpaw Clan Hours. The reason we combine it with the clan hours is because it is a known time for the community and because I thought we could as well smack the things together!
Huh? Why the slow travel?
Why do we only move a zone per week? My answer would be that I just find it cool to try out roleplaying in different areas instead of Razor Hill all the time! Another answer would be that you simply do not just travel from Durotar to Nagrand in a day. The distances are far larger than what you see in game. For example in Stormwind there is supposed to live 200.000 people. Look at the city! There is not nearly enough space!
Taking that into account then yes I do know we could use portals, but Dargrol here is not too find of them In Character. He would rather do the walk on foot. I would like those participating on the event to please respect the distances in this roleplay. If your character joins on the travel IC’ly then stay around the area! RP in it! Make an RP hotspot there that week!
Alright, and what are the dates for the events?
The following dates we will move and host the Bloodfights. Other days between the 16th of August and 20th of September we’ll be around at the areas we have been traveling to – For example at the 28th of August we would be hanging out in Beggar’s Haunt. The dates of the movements are this:
16th of August the clan makes its way to Stranglethorn Vale, making camp at Grom’gol Base Camp.
23rd of August the clan makes its way to Beggar’s Haunt in Duskwood.
30th of August the clan makes its way to Stonard in the Swamp of Sorrow.
6th of September the clan makes it way through the Dark Portal and into the Hellfire Peninsula. They make camp at Thrallmar.
13th of September the clan makes its way to Zabra’jin in Zangarmarsh and hosts the Bloodfights.
20th of September the clan makes its way to Garadar and the long travel is finished.
